Nicknamed ‘The Happy Warrior’, the 39-year-old MMA fighter has an impressive fighting career. With her bout against Talia Santos in UFC 266, she is now one of the record holders for the highest number of MMA fights for a woman in MMA history.
Modafferi is also an otaku and cosplayer, and frequently posts about her appreciation for My Hero Academia, Naruto, and Attack on Titan on her Twitter and blog.

Besides Modafferi, other UFC fighters have also made anime references in the lead-up and during high-profile matches. One of the most recently notable is current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, who mimicked scribbling a name, Death Note style, during his championship bout against Robert Whittaker.
