Fairy Tail Film's Promo Video Highlights Bonus Manga

posted on by Egan Loo
Advance tickets come with Hiro Mashima's manga prologue, designs, interviews

The official website for the Fairy Tail: Hōō no Miko (Fairy Tail: Priestess of the Phoenix) film began streaming a promotional video on Wednesday to showcase the bonus manga that comes bundled with advance tickets. Fairy Tail manga creator Hiro Mashima personally drew a 30-page "Hajimari no Asa" (The First Morning) manga prologue to the film.

The bonus manga also includes written messages from the cast, character designs from the film, the initial idea sketch for the film from Mashima, a special interview with Mashima, and an interview with the film's director Masaya Fujimori (You Are Umasou) in which he explains the difference from the television series.

The film revolves around a mysterious girl named Éclair who appears before Fairy Tail, the world's most notorious wizard's guild. She lost all of her memories, except for the imperative that she must deliver two Hōōseki (Phoenix Stones) somewhere. The stones may spell the collapse of the magical world, and Natsu, Lucy, and the rest of the Fairy Tail guild are caught up in the intrigue.

Mashima is in charge of story planning and visual design for the film's all-new plot, and he is also drafting the guest character designs and image concept art. Masashi Sogo (Fairy Tail, Bleach, Rurouni Kenshin) wrote the screenplay.

The Fairy Tail film will open on August 18 in Japan.
