Attack on Titan Manga Sells Over 30 Million

posted on by Egan Loo
3rd series with verified sales over 30 million since 2009, after One Piece & Naruto

The market research firm Oricon reported on Thursday that Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan manga has sold 30.37 million copies as of April 20. It is only the third series to sell 30 million copies since Oricon began reporting on book sales in 2009. (The first two were One Piece and Naruto; One Piece sold 38 million in 2011 alone.)

The financial news source Nikkei had already reported in January that Kodansha published 30 million copies, but Oricon verified that 30 million copies were actually sold.

The 13th volume went on sale on April 9 and already sold 1,130,508 copies (plus 270,272 limited-edition copies) in its first five days. In its second week of sales, the 13th volume ranked #2, and all 13 volumes were in the top 100 of the weekly manga sales chart. This week, the browser game Shingeki no Kyojin -Hangeki no Tsubasa- ONLINE (Attack on Titan -Wings of the Counterattack- ONLINE) is hosting a limited "Tokubetsu Sakusen-Han" scenario.
