Anime Limited Acquires Blood Lad and Terror of Resonance

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Vampire dark comedy anime, plus a new Shinichiro Watanabe series with music by Yoko Kanno.

Anime Limited made the following announcement on its website:

Anime Limited is pleased to announce its acquisition of the television series Blood Lad animated by Brains Base (Bacanno!, Durarara!!) and directed by Shigeyuki Miya (Supernatural: The Animation)!

Staz is one of the toughest vampires in the demon world. But unlike his ancestors, he finds being a vampire to be a serious pain and prefers to spend his time watching anime and playing video games instead. When a Japanese girl named Fuyumi wanders into his territory, Staz cannot hide his excitement at finally meeting a living human from his favorite culture. Unfortunately, Fuyumi dies after being swallowed by a monster, leaving her bare soul behind. Staz vows to Fuyumi that he will bring her back to life by any bloody means necessary.

Currently to be scheduled but expected in Collector's Edition packaging at a date dependent on materials.

Expect pre-orders to go live in in early Q3 across all good retailer.

The 10-part dark comedy anime adapts Yūki Kodama's manga.

During a panel at London Comic Con on Saturday, it was also confirmed that Anime Limited had acquired the series Zankyō no Terror (Terror of Resonance), with orders beginning from July.

Fuji TV previously announced that it will premiere the original anime series in its Noitamina block this July. Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Kids on the Slope) is directing the anime at the studio MAPPA. Yoko Kanno (Macross Plus, Cowboy Bebop, Kids on the Slope) is composing the music, and Kazuto Nakazawa (Samurai Champloo) is designing the characters.

The tagline of the anime is "Pull the trigger on this world." The anime's website give this story introduction:

On a summer day …

A massive terrorist bombing suddenly struck Tokyo.

The culprits behind the act that woke up this complacent nation from its slumber, were just two boys.

Now, the culprits known as "Sphinx" begin a grandiose game that encompasses all of Japan.

At the same panel, a statement from Studio Bones was read out; it confirmed that the first season of Space Dandy will be released on Blu-ray and DVD by Anime Limited, while the upcoming Season 2 will be simulcast on the Wakanim website from July.
