Shiro's Encouragement of Climb manga inspires longer episodes in July

The official website for the Yama no Susume (Encouragement of Climb) anime began streaming the first promotional video for the second season on Friday.

As the video notes, the second season based on Shiro's manga will have 15-minute episodes — unlike the first season, which had five-minute episodes. It will run for two cours or half a year. The "girls-only outdoors anime" is returning on July 9 on the Tokyo MX TV station at 10:00 p.m.

The manga and anime tell the story of childhood friends: Aoi (Yuka Iguchi), a girl who prefers staying inside and who has acrophobia, and Hinata (Kana Asumi), a girl who loves mountains. The two decide to climb a mountain in order to once again see the morning sun from its peak as they did when they were young.

In the second season, the four friends who met while trekking through the mountains will take on the challenge of mountain climbing in earnest. Their goal is the global cultural landmark, Mt. Fuji.
