Screenings This Saturday in Norwich and Cardiff

There will be a free one-day festival of Japanese cinema at The Forum in Norwich (directions) on Saturday June 7. It includes two anime films: Mamoru Hosoda's The Wolf Children (pictured) at 12 noon and Sunao Katabuchi's Mai Mai Miracle at 2.30 p.m. The festival also includes two live action films: Akira Kurosawa's 1949 Stray Dog and Sang Il Lee's 2010 film Villain. All these films are subtitled.
The Kotatsu festival in Cardiff on Saturday June 7 will screen the following films: Patema Inverted twice (11 a.m. and 4 p.m.), Colorful (pictured, 1.15 p.m.); Mai Mai Miracle (6.30 p.m.) and Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (8.30 p.m). The Colorful screening at 1.15 p.m. will start with a short five-minute music film, By Your Side by the director Tsuneo Gōda, who created the 'Domu' character. All screenings will be subtitled. The Kotatsu festival will take place in the Chapter cinema in Canton, Cardiff. The event also includes a 'marketplace' of various retailers, a 'Manga Workshop' for children (11 a.m. to 4 p.m) and a 'Raffle Prize Draw' (6 p.m.) There will be another Kotatsu event in Aberystwyth on June 21, although this will not include the film Colorful.
