Discotek Licenses Zombie-Loan, Shin Mazinger Z Impact

Anime of Peach-Pit's manga in September, followed by 2009 robot anime next year

North American anime distributor Discotek Media announced on Monday that it licensed the Zombie-Loan television anime series and the Shin Mazinger Z Impact television anime series. Discotek will release a complete Zombie-Loan DVD collection with all 13 English-subtitled episodes on September 30. Shin Mazinger Z Impact will ship in a complete DVD collection with all 26 English-subtitled episodes next year.

The 2007 Zombie-Loan anime adapted Peach-Pit's manga of the same name. The story revolves around three high school students — a girl who can see rings around the necks of those who are about to die, and two boys in her class who have defied death — who hunt zombies for the "Zombie Loan" office.

The manga ran in Square Enix's G Fantasy magazine until 2011. Yen Press published all 13 volumes of the manga in North America.

Shin Mazinger Z Impact (Shin Mazinger Shōgeki! Z-Hen) is an alternate retelling of Gō Nagai's classic 1970s super robot story Mazinger Z. Despite this, the production staff took great care to emphasize that their work is a separate work from Mazinger Z and not a remake per se. The television series ran in Japan in 2009 with director Yasuhiro Imagawa (Giant Robo, G-Gundam).
