Air Master's Shibata Will End 81diver After 2 More Chapters

This year's 31st issue of Shueisha's Young Jump magazine is announcing on Thursday that Yokusaru Shibata's 81diver manga will end after two more chapters. If the story does not take any it breaks it will end in the 33rd issue on July 17. The 33rd volume shipped in Japan on June 19.
The manga focuses on a young man named Kentarō Sugata, a former professional player of a Japanese chess-like board game known as shogi. (The manga's title comes from the 81 squares on a shogi board.) After leaving the pro circuit, Sugata enters the world of "Shinkenshi" ("true sword-masters"), or players who gamble on shogi and other board games like go and mah-jong. He meets his match in Soyo Nakashizu, a female Shinkenshi who happens to be a part-time maid in Akihabara.
The manga was adapted into a live-action television series in 2008.
Shibata's Air Master manga inspired a television anime in 2003 and Geneon Entertainment and Toei Animation released some of the series on DVD in North America before Funimation picked up the license. Crunchyroll streams the series on its website.
