Girls und Panzer Gets New Manga Series in September

Girls & Panzer: Ribon no Musha manga stars new heroine

This year's September issue of Media Factory's Comic Flapper magazine is announcing on Tuesday that its October issue will debut a new Girls und Panzer manga series, tentatively titled Girls & Panzer: Ribon no Musha (Girls und Panzer: Ribbon Warrior), on September 5. Takeshi Nogami, who served as assistant character designer on the original anime, is collaborating with Takaaki Suzuki, who served as military history adviser, on the new series.

The manga follows a new heroine. In the story, Ōarai Girls Academy's victory at the 63rd National High School Tankery Games changes the fate of one girl from an unnamed school.

Seven Seas licensed the Girls und Panzer manga by Ryōichi Saitaniya and Girls und Panzer: Little Army spinoff manga by Tsuchii.

The original anime follows Miho, a girl who just transferred into the Ōrai Girls' Academy in Ibaraki Prefecture. She finds herself alone at first, but then joins the "senshadō" (tank combat) course — in this school, the girls drive real-life tanks the way girls in other schools take archery or kendō sword fighting. Miho's Ankō (Angler Fish) Team competes with the other teams.

Crunchyroll streamed the anime series as it aired, and Sentai Filmworks released the series on home video last year. The franchise will also include a film that is set to open this year.

The October issue will also debut Satoshi Shiina's Joshi-kai Quest (Girls' Club Quest) and Chika's Hime to Yobanaide (Don't Call Me Princess).
