Samurai Girls Sequel Video Anime Bundled With Niθ Artbook

Hyakka Ryōran Samurai After set 1 year after Samurai Bride with new character

The Niθ Art Works Vol. 2 Zoku Adesugata Giga Jōkan book will bundle a 30-minute Blu-ray Disc with the first episode of a new original video anime titled Hyakka Ryōran Samurai After. According to last month's announcement, the new anime serves as a sequel to the Hyakka Ryōran Samurai Bride television anime, which itself is a sequel to the Hyakka Ryōran Samurai Girls television anime.

The "Samurai Sōsenkyo" (Samurai General Election) episode is set one year after Samurai Bride's story. A new character named Uesugi Kagekatsu joins the comrades at Yagyū dojo in what Hobby Japan describes as the "most sexy OVA in the Hyakka Ryōran franchise."

The Blu-ray Disc will also include a short anime, which offers to let the audience experience life as a newlywed to a Samurai Girl from a first-person perspective.

The book, the second art collection from illustrator and Hyakka Ryōran Samurai Bride's original character designer Niθ, will ship on December 19. The 64-page book will include about 50 illustrations (mainly from the Hyakka Ryōran franchise), as well as designs, storyboards, and other production materials from the bundled anime. The December release is actually the first volume of a two-volume set; the last volume will ship next March.

The first Samurai Girls anime season premiered in October 2010, and The Anime Network streamed the anime in the United States as it aired in Japan. The anime also streamed with English subtitles on Hulu in 2011. Section23 Films released the first anime season on DVD. Crunchyroll then streamed Samurai Bride as it aired in Japan, and Section23 Films released it on North American home video in June.
