Sakigake Otoko Juku, Peacock King Manga Available on English Renta

The first three volumes of Akira Miyashita's Sakigake!! Otoko Juku and the first three volumes of Makoto Ogino's Peacock King (Kujakuoh) are now available digitally in English through Renta!. Each volume will cost one "ticket" (US$1) to rent for 48 hours and four "tickets" (US$4) to purchase.

Renta! describes Sakigake!! Otoko Juku:

A violent action manga set in "Otokojuku" with its extreme Spartan curriculum, depicting the lives of the students overflowing with manliness, centered around Tsurugi Momotaro. Otokojuku gathers up delinquent youths around the nation who have nowhere else to go, and educates them in an extreme, militaristic manner. Momotaro, the head of the first-year class, is marked by the instructors, and during Otokojuku's specialty, the "Straight March", where students must move forward even if there are houses in the way, he is ordered to break into a yakuza office alone...!

Sakigake!! Otoko Juku ran in Shonen Jump in Japan from 1985 to 1991, and was serialized into 34 volumes. Toei Animation released an anime adaptation and a film in 1988. Shueisha released a sequel manga entitled Akatsuki!! Otoko Juku - Seinen yo, Taishi o Idake in 1991, and a spin-off debuted in Nihonbungeisha's Bessatsu Manga Goraku magazine earlier this year.

Renta! describes Peacock King:

Kujaku is a young Ajari, a monk with the power to destroy all evil and a pure heart of mercy, who has inherited the name of the Peacock Lord.With the powers of his esoteric buddhism, he travels the land destroying evil monsters, demons, and ghosts! His adventure begins when a monster appears at a TV station, but upon a closer look, Kujaku finds a powerful grudge from a weak victim who was exploited by the TV station in order to increase ratings. As the story goes on, Kujaku awakens more and more to his godlike powers and does battle with creatures from legends all over the world. Get ready to be blown away by this epic action masterpiece!

Peacock King ran in Shueisha's Young Jump magazine from 1985 to 1989 and was serialized into 17 volumes from 1986 to 1990. Two anime OAVs under the title Spirit Warrior premiered in 1988 and 1994.
