Miyano plays Kōji Ibuki in film's anime portion

An advance screening of Gekijōban Cardfight!! Vanguard (Cardfight!! Vanguard the Movie) opened in Tokyo on Monday, revealing Mamoru Miyano (Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club's Rin, Tokyo Ghoul's Tsukiyama) as Kōji Ibuki in the film's animated portion. The film also has a live-action portion.

Kōji Ibuki is KAI and Miwa's Cardfight teacher from the manga, but he has yet to appear in the anime. In the film, he is manipulating a mysterious group called "DELETER" and stands in Aichi and KAI's way.

In the anime portion, Neon Messiah, the characters Aichi and KAI join forces to take on an enormous foe. Shin Itagaki is directing the anime portion at Ultra Super Pictures with a screenplay by Mayori Sekijima. Tsubasa Yonaga, Takuya Satō, and Izumi Kitta reprise their roles as Aichi Sendō, Toshiki KAI, and Misaki Tokura, respectively.

Musician DAIGO will return to the franchise for the live-action portion of the film, Mittsu no Game, along with Suzuko Mimori, Taizō Shiina, Takuma Sueno, and other cast members. Takashi Motoki is directing the portion at Ace Crew Entertainment. DAIGO will play the middle school teacher named DAIGO who, as "Vanguard Fight's Strongest Man," accepts a criminal's challenge for a high-stakes game.

The live action part features DAIGO's theme song "CHANGE!" and the animated portion features Ultra Rare's theme song "Bravery Flame."

The film will open in Japanese theaters on September 13.
