The November issue of Fujimi Shobo's Dragon Magazine announced on Saturday that Tetsuya Yanagisawa will direct and Takao Yoshioka will handle series composition for the third anime season based on Ichiei Ishibumi's High School DxD light novel series. Junji Gotō is again designing the characters.
The original light novel series with Miyama-Zero's art centers around Issei Hyōdō, a dim-witted, lecherous second-year high school student who is killed by a girl on his first date ever. Issei is reincarnated as a devil, and from that day forward, he serves as an underling of Riasu, a high-level devil who is also the prettiest girl on Issei's campus.
The first season premiered in Japan in 2012, and Funimation licensed it for North America for streaming and home video. The second season aired last summer and reunited most of the main staff and cast. Funimation also licensed the second season for streaming and home video.
