Psycho-Pass Film Slated for January 9 With Gen Urobuchi, Makoto Fukami

Psycho-Fes, the Psycho-Pass anime event held in Yokohama on Friday, announced that the upcoming Psycho-Pass film will open on January 9.
Writer Makoto Fukami (Chotto Kawaii Iron Maiden, Ōsama-tachi no Viking) had reported on his blog in July that he was writing the film's screenplay with Gen Urobuchi. Fukami had collaborated with Urobuchi on the first season of Psycho-Pass, but Tow Ubukata will handle series composition of the second.
Psycho-Pass takes place in the near future, when it is possible to instantaneously measure and quantify a person's state of mind and personality. This information is recorded and processed, and the term "Psycho-Pass" in the anime's title refers to a standard used to measure an individual's being. The story centers around the "enforcement officer" Shinya Kōgami (Tomokazu Seki) who is tasked with managing crime in such a world.
FUNimation Entertainment licensed Psycho-Pass, the Psycho-Pass "new edit version," and the upcoming Psycho-Pass 2, which will premiere on October 9.
