I.G, Point Pictures Animate 2nd Promo for Ange Vierge Cards

posted on by Karen Ressler
Card game starring super-powered teenage girls has spawned manga, smartphone game

Anime studios Production I.G and Point Pictures produced a second two-minute promotional video for Ange Vierge, a trading card game franchise from light novel publishers Fujimi Shobo and Media Factory. The video features the theme song "Unite Light" written by RUCCA, composed by Daisuke Kikuta, and performed by L.I.N.K.s, a voice actress unit consisting of Yuka Aisaka, Mai Ishihara, Rie Takahashi, Yoshiko Ikuta, and Nozomi Yamamoto.

The story of the card game follows what happens when "Hairō" portals suddenly open, fusing three different worlds together. As a result, various mysterious "Exceed" powers are awakened in teenage girls. An academy for these so-called "Progress" girls is built on the isolated Seiran Island in the Pacific.

The characters in the video include:

  • Yuka Aisaka as Miumi Hinata
  • Mai Ishihara as Sofina
  • Saori Hayami as Aurora
  • Kana Hanazawa as Senia
  • Rie Takahashi as Yūfiria
  • Yoshiko Ikuta as Ruby
  • Nozomi Yamamoto as Mayuka

The cards feature illustrations from various artists, including Kantoku (HENNEKO, Magical Suite Prism Nana), Kira Inugami (Student Council's Discretion, Ebiten: Kōritsu Ebisugawa Kōkō Tenmon-Bu), Kurehito Misaki (How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend), and abec (Sword Art Online).

The first promotional video streamed last August, two months after the game was announced. The franchise has since been expanded into a smartphone game and a manga adaptation, Ange Vierge Linkage, which is serializing on Kadokawa's Dragon Age magazine and ComicWalker app. Mako Komao is writing the series with art by Sakaki Yoshioka.

Update: Yūfiria's spelling corrected. Thanks, jirg1901.
