2nd Kamisama Kiss Anime's 1st Promo Previews New Characters

Mamoru, Kirihito, parts of Tomoe's past sampled in video promoting 2nd season of adaptation of Julietta Suzuki's manga

Pony Canyon began streaming the first promotional video for the second Kamisama Hajimemashita (Kamisama Kiss) anime series adapting Julietta Suzuki's manga on Tuesday.

Demon: So you're the guys who have been messing around these parts lately... Tomoe and Akuraō. Let's have a fight, shall we!?
Akuraō: That's fine. It should ease my boredom. Right, my sworn brother?
Demon: Die!
Tomoe: You should have stopped when you could have!
Akuraō: Ha. Good going, sworn brother. ...Tomoe? Tomoe!
Tomoe: I'm the familiar god of the Mikage shrine, Tomoe. I was formerly a demon, but now, I've formed a contract, and I'm a servant to a god. This position is perfect for me. This is my master. She's a human girl who had the power of the Mikage shrine passed down to her. Even though she's as weak as a worm, she moves around constantly, so I can't keep my eyes from her. Thanks to that, I've started to have to go to something called "school."
This guy's true form is a Tengu, but he's a weirdo who likes living in human society. He had been aiming for Nanami's land god heart, but I sent him packing. However, he keeps on getting involved with us, and he's very annoying.
There are other irritating people. I haven't recognized him as one, but he's the other familiar of the Mikage shrine who made a contract on his own. He's a snake in a box who doesn't know much about the outside world, and he's pretty annoying.
Finally, this is my former master, Mikage, who turned me into a familiar. He's able to reside inside of a butterfly, and is a floaty guy who is hard to grasp. He said he was just going out, but he hasn't come back for 20 years.
The god Otohiko is Mikage's companion god. He sometimes comes to the shrine to pick on Nanami. It appears that there are other people trying to get near Nanami, but... As long as I'm near her, I won't let anyone near her. No matter who comes, I'll protect her. That's my job, after all. Well, anyway, wait for updates.

The cast will be returning from the first season with the following members:

Shinnosuke Tachibana as Tomoe
Suzuko Mimori as Nanami Momozono
Nobuhiko Okamoto as Mizuki
Daisuke Kishio as Kurama
Hiroki Takahashi as Otohiko
Akira Ishida as Mikage
Junichi Suwabe as Kirihito/Akuraō
Satomi Satou as Ami Nekota
Shūta Morishima as Isobe
Naoko Matsui as Onikiri
Chika Ookubo as Kotetsu
Vanilla Yamazaki as Narrator

However, Naoko Matsui will be replacing Natsuyo Arashi as the role of Onikiri.

The staff will be returning as well, with Akitarō Daichi directing the series at TMS Entertainment. Junko Yamanaka will provide character designs, and will also serve as animation director.

The story of Julietta Suzuki's original manga begins with Nanami, a girl who finds herself homeless after her father leaves. She comes to the home of a man who offers to let her stay over — only to discover it is a Shinto shrine. The man happened to be a deity who has just transferred his status and his yōkai to Nanami. That yōkai's name is Tomoe, and a contract between him and Nanami can only be sealed in one way: with a kiss.

Suzuki launched the manga in Hana to Yume in 2008, and Hakusensha published the 19th compiled volume in Japan on September 19. Viz Media published the 16th volume in North America on October 16.

The series already inspired a 13-episode television anime season, and Funimation streamed the series as it aired in Japan. Funimation released the series on Blu-ray and DVD on February 11.
