Monogatari Series' 1st 'Final Season' Anime to Air on December 31

A handout revealed that the anime of Tsukimonogatari, the first story in the "Final Season" of NisiOisin's Monogatari Series, will air on December 31. All four episodes of Tsukimonogatari will begin running at 10:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve on the Tokyo MX TV station, the BS11 channel, and the niconico service. Aniplex will then release the episodes on two Yotsugi Doll Blu-ray Disc/DVD volumes on February 4 and March 4, 2015.

The Nisio Tsūshin newsletter had reported in 2012 that the anime adaptation of NisiOisin's entire Monogatari novel series has been "officially green-lit." The novels already inspired several previous anime adaptations from director Akiyuki Shinbo and the studio SHAFT. Zoku Owarimonogatari, the last volume for the "Final Season" of the novels, shipped in September with teaser page for "Monogatari Series, Next Season" and "Tsugimonogatari."
