Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Light Novels Get TV Anime

Voice actor Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Sword Art Online's Kirito, The IDOLM@STER's Shota) announced during a new anime project unveiling held over a Nico Nico Live broadcast that a television anime adaptation of Fujino Ōmori's Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru no Darō ka? (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) light novel series is in production. The anime will star Matsuoka as the protagonist Bell Cranel,, while Inori Minase and Saori Ōnishi will star as Hestia and Eyes Warenstein, respectively. Maaya Uchida will also star as Ririruka Ahde.
The anime is the first part of a number of projects being planned in celebration of the GA Bunko imprint.
Yoshiki Yamakawa (Hatsukoi Limited, Little Busters!) will direct the anime at J.C. Staff (A Certain Magical Index, Little Busters!) from series composition by Hideki Shirane (Date A Live, Bottle Fairy). Shigeki Kimoto (Sky Girls sub character design) is designing the characters for the anime, and GENCO will produce the series.
The story takes place in the town of labyrinths, Orario, also called "Dungeon." Bell Cranel is a newbie adventurer that admires "Having a fateful meeting with a person of the opposite gender." One day during an adventure, he is attacked by a Minotaur. Close to destruction, he is saved by a top-class female adventurer, Eyes Warenstein. He falls in love with her at first sight, and begins actions to become an adventurer that is on her level. He later encounters Hestia, a god called a "Lolita god" due to her stature who falls in love with him.
Omori began the novel under SB Creative's GA Bunko imprint in 2013. The novel won the grand prize in the fourth GA Bunko Awards. The series has sold over 500,000 copies, and the novel has inspired three different manga series. Yen Press has licensed the novel series for English release in North America, and will release the first volume in December.
