Series centers on foolish cat girl trying to become Chinese zodiac member

The official website for animation studio Shirogumi Inc. (Moyashimon, Antique Bakery, Friends: Mononoke Shima no Naki) and Tablier Communications' original television anime Etotama began streaming third version of the promotional video on Wednesday. The video is mostly unchanged from the previous version, but it reveals that Eriko Matsui and Ari Ozawa will join the cast as Mo-tan and Umatan, respectively, and Yumiri Hanamori will play a newly-unveiled character, Uritan.

The series, which "aims to be the noisiest anime in Japan," is slated to premiere in April 2015.

A Niconico live broadcast also announced the new cast members on Wednesday. The cast so far includes:

Rie Murakawa will play Nya-tan, the cat zodiac. She and the other zodiac characters have an "adult mode" and a "pretty mode"

Hiro Shimono will play Takeru Tendo, a high school student who lives in Akihabara.

Eriko Matsui will play Mo-tan, the cow zodiac character.

Ari Ozawa will play Umatan, the horse zodiac character.

Yumiri Hanamori will play Uritan, the boar zodiac character.

Kadokawa's Dengeki Daioh magazine launched a manga version of the series in the January 2014 issue. Shirogumi and Tablier Communications are credited with the original work, Takashi Hoshi (Schäferhund) and Tōru Zekū (Trinity x Venus) are credited with the manga's original story, and Hiroma Hino is drawing the manga.

The manga's story revolves around Nya-tan, the cat of Chinese astrology who wants to become a member of the Chinese zodiac. Nya-tan is simple and suffers from memory loss, and she tries various foolish ways to become a member. She meets Takeru Tendo, a high school student who lives alone in Akihabara, and becomes a freeloader at his house. Little by little, she gets closer to her goal.
