Koei Tecmo Games announced that it will release Angelique Retour, its remake of the first Angelique romance simulation game for female players, next year. The platform of choice for the remake has not yet been announced. The tagline for the game is, "Love, or duty…?"
In addition, the remake is inspiring a manga series in Shogakukan's Sho-Comi Zōkan magazine. Honey Blood's Miko Mitsuki will launch the manga in the December 15 issue, which will ship on November 15.
Angelique Retour is a 20th anniversary remake of the 1994 Super Famicom (Super Nintendo) love simulation game Angelique, the first entry in Koei's Neo Romance franchise. Angelique, 17, is the main character who can date up to nine handsome young men throughout her journey to become Queen. The Angelique series spawned several more game and anime projects.
The main characters so far are:
- Angelique: 17-year-old candidate to be Queen
- Oscar: 22-year-old guardian of flame and one of the eligible lovers of the Queen
The story of the series follows two girls whom are eligible to be the next Queen of the Universe. But in order to be chosen, they must cultivate their own realms. They also will have a chance to fall in love. Once the choice of Queen has been made, she will have to choose between her duties as Queen or to her lover, but not both.
