Forensic Science Manga Smoking Gun Ends Next Week

posted on by Sarah Nelkin
Manga was adapted into live-action television series in April

This year's 24th issue of Shueisha's Grand Jump magazine is publishing the final chapter of Shūji Takeya's Smoking Gun - Minkan Kasōken Chōsa'in Nagareda Midori (Smoking Gun – Civilian Forensic Research Investigator Midori Nagareda) manga on Wednesday. The tenth and final compiled volume will be released in Japan in mid-January.

The “science and human” mystery revolves around Midori Nagareda, a forensic scientist. In his work, he relieves doubts of the suspicious, and proves the innocence of the suspected. The company he works for “sells the truth.”

The manga began with the launch of Grand Jump in 2012, with Yokomaku (a television suspense scriptwriter) writing the story and Takeya handling the art. The manga inspired a live-action adaptation that lasted from April to June with 11 episodes.
