2nd Knights of Sidonia anime season to premiere next April

Kings Records began streaming an English-subtitled promotional video for Sidonia no Kishi: Dai-kyū Wakusei Seneki (Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine), the second Knights of Sidonia anime season, on Sunday. The video first debuted at the Knights of Sidonia television anime premium event at Tokyo Dome City earlier in the day.

The second Knights of Sidonia season will premiere next April in the Animeism programming block, and as seen in the video, the character Tsumugi will "appear at last." Hiroyuki Seshita, the assistant director of the first season, is replacing Kobun Shizuno as the director of the second season at POLYGON PICTURES, and Sadayuki Murai is returning to be in charge of the series scripts.

The rest of the staff includes:

  • Character Design: Yuki Moriyama
  • Assistant Directors: Hiroaki Ando, Naohiro Yoshihira
  • Production Design: Naoya Tanaka
  • Battle Animatiques: Eiji Ogushi
  • Music: Noriyuki Asakura

Customi Z, the four-man rock band born from Ebidan (Ebisu Gakuen Danshibu), performed "Hitsuji no Hikari" (Ray of Light), the ending theme song for the advance screening version of the second season. However, the song is not neccessarily the theme for the final version of the second season.

A theatrical film edition of the first Knights of Sidonia television anime season will open on March 6. The film will be a compilation of all 12 episodes of the season with new sequences and redone sound effects. Kobun Shizuno, the director of the first season, is also directing the movie.
