American Diana Garnet Sings Naruto Anime's New Ending Theme

D.C. native & Naruto fan was winner of same contest that introduced Chris Hart to Japan

American singer Diana Garnet will perform the next ending theme song for the Naruto Shippūden television anime. 2015's first issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing the news on Monday. Naruto Shippūden will use Garnet's first original single, which will debut next year.

Garnet was born in Washington, D.C., and she moved to Japan in part to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a singer. In 2013, Garnet won the Nodo Jiman Za! World television competition, the same program that introduced fellow American Chris Hart to Japan. That win led to her contract with Sony Music Records. She released her first single "Mata Kimi ni Koi Shiteru" (a cover of an earlier song, pictured below) on October 23, 2013, followed by her first full album Cover Girl on November 27, 2013.

Weekly Shonen Jump describes Garnet as a "super cute 100% American" and an otaku who loves Japanese manga, anime, history and culture. She herself notes that she has loved Naruto for a long time, so this opportunity seems like a dream to her. She vows, "I'll do my best!! Dattebayo!" (Believe it!), and asks for the fans' support.
