Last Note began light novels inspired by his own Vocaloid songs last year

The preview cover image on retailer Amazon.com for the January 2015 issue of Kadokawa's Comic Gene magazine is listing that a television anime adapting Last Note's Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku (Mikagura School Suite) series of light novels has been green-lit. The issue is scheduled to be released in Japan on Monday.

Last Note, a composer of various Vocaloid songs, began the Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku light novels inspired by his own songs in July 2013 with illustrations by Akina, who also provided the artwork for the original Vocaloid videos.

The story of the original light novels and manga revolves around high school girl Eruna Ichinomiya, who enters the Mikagura Academy dreaming of a boarding school life filled with beauty. However, Eruna finds out that in the culture clubs, there is a rule that battles that are fought with special powers decide a club representative's treatment. Through various circumstances, Eruna becomes a representative of a club, and is thrown into the fray.

A manga adaptation of the novels began in Comic Gene in August 2013 with art by Sayuki. Kadokawa will ship the fifth novel on December 25, and released the third compiled volume of the manga in September.
