posted on by Egan Loo

About 180,000 people attended the first day of the Comic Market (Comiket) 87 event at the Tokyo Big Sight convention center on Sunday. The number of attendees stayed about the same from last winter's Comiket 85, and increased from this past summer's Comiket 86 (170,000).

Comiket 87 runs until Tuesday. About 11,800 doujin circles offered dōjinshi inspired by manga and anime such as One Piece and Naruto on the first day.

Comiket 84 holds the record for the most attendees on the first day with about 210,000.
