Ace of Diamond Baseball Manga's 1st Part Ends

2nd part of Yūji Terajima's Daiya no A to launch in spring

This year's seventh issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine is publishing the final chapter of the first part of Yūji Terajima's Ace of Diamond (Daiya no A) manga on Wednesday. A special extra story will appear in the magazine's 10th and 11th issues. Terajima plans to launch the main manga's second part this spring.

Terajima launched the baseball manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2006, and Kodansha will release the 45th volume next Friday. The manga won the shōnen category of the 34th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2010.

The manga inspired a television anime that premiered in 2013, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan. The manga is also inspiring three original anime DVDs.

A stage play adaptation was slated to run in Tokyo's Shinjuku Kinokuniya Southern Theatre from January 23 to January 31. However, the production committee announced last month that the project has been delayed due to "various circumstances."

The manga's story follows eijun Sawamura, a pitcher who joins an elite school with a brilliant catcher named Kazuya Miyuki. Together with the rest of the team, they strive for Japan's storied Kōshien championships through hard work and determination.
