Resident Evil: The Marhawa Desire's Serizawa Plans New Saru Lock Series

Manga artist also teases new series unrelated to Saru Lock

Manga artist Naoki Serizawa announced over Twitter on Thursday that he is planning new Saru Lock series for Kodansha's Monthly Young Magazine.

Serizawa began the action comedy manga Saru Lock in 2003 and Kodansha published the 22nd and final compiled volume in 2009. The series inspired a live-action film adaptation and TV drama in 2009.

The story follows Yatarō "Saru" Sarumaru, an ordinary high school boy who daydreams about idols but otherwise has no luck with girls. However, this silver-haired son of a locksmith also happens to be a lockpicking genius, and there is no lock that "Saru" (literally, "monkey") cannot open.

Serizawa also stated in November that he would begin a new series, unrelated to Saru Lock, in Young Magazine this year.

Serizawa is also currently drawing the art for Muneyuki Kaneshiro's Billion Dogs manga and the story and art for Biohazard: heavenly island. Viz Media is publishing his previous Resident Evil: The Marhawa Desire manga in North America and Media Blasters published Samurai Man.
