Shinjirō's Battle Action Manga Taboo-Tattoo Gets Anime

Series by Fate/Zero manga artist centers on boy with supernatural tattoo

The wraparound jacket band on the ninth volume of Shinjirō's Taboo-Tattoo manga announced on Friday that an anime adaptation is in the works. The jacket band also printed words of praise for the manga from Arpeggio of Blue Steel creators Ark Performance.

Shinjirō launched the battle action manga in Comic Alive magazine from Kadokawa's Media Factory imprint in November 2009. The manga follows Justice Akazuka (nickname Seigi), a young man who is good at martial arts. Seigi rescues a homeless old man on the street one day from some thugs, and the man gives Seigi an object that imprints a tattoo on his palm. However, it is not an ordinary tattoo, but a special weapon that gives Seigi supernatural powers such as warping space-time. Seigi then meets a female American agent named Ijii, whose duty is to recover the tattoos. Seigi decides to help her and gets wrapped up in a cross-national conspiracy.

Shinjirō is also drawing the Fate/Zero manga. That manga is an adaptation of Gen Urobuchi and Type-Moon's original Fate/Zero light novel series. Dark Horse Comics revealed in September that it will release the manga series in English. ---
