Samurai PS3 Game Ukiyo no Shishi's Opening Movie Streamed

posted on by Karen Ressler
Spike Chunsoft's game starring Sakamoto Ryōma will ship on Thursday in Japan

Spike Chunsoft began streaming the opening movie for its upcoming PlayStation 3 game Ukiyo no Shishi (Patriot of Ukiyo) on Thursday. The game is slated to ship on January 29.

The game is a "what-if" story starring historical figure Sakamoto Ryōma, who has lost his memories. The player can choose one of six voices for the character, including two female voices: Ryūichi Kijima, Eiichirō Tokumoto, Kōichi Sakaguchi, Makoto Koichi, and Tomo Muranaka.

The action game features "Kabuki Chanbara" sword fighting and an "Ukiyo Engine," which freezes shots from the game to look like ukiyo-e, or Japanese woodblock prints.

A PlayStation Vita game with a similar system, Ukiyo no Roushi (Ronin of Ukiyo), will ship on February 11. The game will have a different story revolving around protagonist Yoshijirō Okita.
