posted on
The March issue of Kadokawa's Kadokawa's Monthly Newtype magazine is announcing on Tuesday that a TV anime adaptation of Ai's Million Doll manga has been green-lit. Asahi Production will animate the series, and it will premiere in Japan in July. Plans for the anime include public voice actress auditions that those not signed to agencies can apply for, as well as events for the anime between April and September.
The original manga revolves around Sūko, an idol-loving hikikomori (shut-in) who has one ability: To make any idol popular through the power of blogging. She puts her sights on the Fukuoka idol Itorio and tries to make her sell more, but she is impeded by the charismatic idol Ryūsan and the underground idol Mariko. The author of the manga is an idol otaku herself.
The manga serializes at Comic Smart free manga website Ganma, and its first chapter was published in December 2013.
