Jibanyan becomes a tourist ambassador

Hawaii Tourism Japan announced on Friday that it will launch a promotion in collaboration with the kids' anime and game franchise Yo-kai Watch. The collaboration is planning a Hawaii-original short anime.

The promotion, "Aloha! Yo-kai Watch Rakuen Hawaii ♪ de Geragerapo!!" will launch on March 1 and run for two years with the aim of promoting tourism in Hawaii to Japanese kids and their families. In addition to the short anime, the promotion will include Hawaii-exclusive merchandise and a stamp rally. Participants in the stamp rally can enter a lottery for prizes if they collect three of the six stamps from around Hawaii.

The character Jibanyan "visited" Hawaii in February and was granted the title "Hawaii Tourist Bureau Kids Friendship Ambassador." As part of the tour he visited Hawaii governor David Ige.
