2013 anime inspired by game series to ship in N. America on June 9

North American anime distributor Funimation announced the main cast for its English dub of the Hyperdimension Neptunia anime on Friday. The television anime is slated to ship in North America on June 9.

Most of the cast is returning from the English dub of the video games. The anime cast, under ADR Director Mike McFarland and ADR engineer Andrew Tipps, includes:

People who preorder the series from Funimation's online store will be entered to win one of two Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory Limited Editions signed by voice actresses from the original video games and anime.

Funimation describes the anime's story:

Based on the hit video game series about modern game consoles– anthropomorphized as cute girls! Don't miss this epic adventure based on a video game about video games that Fandom Post calls “the most perfect adaptation of game to anime ever created!”

Welcome to Gamindustri, a fantastical world where all your favorite video game consoles come to life! Neptune and her fellow Goddesses rule the four kingdoms of Lastation, Leanbox, Lowee, and Planeptune – but their royal duties often take a backseat to their obsession with gaming. When their button-mashing shenanigans are interrupted by rampaging monsters, hacker attacks, and killer eggplants, the goddesses must transform into stronger, sexier versions of themselves and fight for their right to game! The bosses get tougher as the game goes on, and the girls will have to work together in order to defeat a bewitching goddess of piracy, an anonymous master hacker, and an evil CPU hell-bent on destroying everything in her path – using any cheat code necessary!

Funimation announced last May that it acquired the home video rights for the series. The anime premiered in Japan in July 2013, and Funimation streamed the series as it aired in Japan.

NIS America released several of the previous Neptunia video game titles in North America, including Hyperdimension Neptunia, Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2, Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory, and Hyperdimension Neptunia: Producing Perfection.

Idea Factory released the Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1, Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 2: Sisters Generation, and Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart PlayStation Vita games in North America and Europe. The company plans to release the Hyperdimension Neptunia U PlayStation Vita game this spring and the Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 3: V Century PlayStation Vita game this summer.
