Digimon Monster Cast, Theme Singers Return for tri. Sequel

posted on by Egan Loo
Cast for the main 8 digimon returns from 1999 anime

The official website for the Digimon Adventure tri. anime updated on Tuesday with a new key visual, and announced that the original cast members from Digimon Adventure will be returning to play the Digimon partners. Palmon's voice actress Kinoko Yamada (Shihomi Mizowaki) is using a different stage name.

The returning cast is as follows:

Chika Sakamoto as Agumon
Mayumi Yamaguchi as Gabumon
Katori Shigematsu as Piyomon
Junko Takeuchi as Gomamon
Kinoko Yamada as Palmon
Miwa Matsumoto as Patamon
Takahiro Sakurai as Tentomon
Yuka Tokumitsu as Tailmon

All of the voice actors returned for the new, original drama CD that shipped with the Digimon Adventure Blu-ray box this month.

In addition, the website announces that Kouji Wada will return to perform the original opening theme song, "Butter-Fly," while Ayumi Miyazaki will also return to perform the insert song, "Brave Heart."

Atsuya Uki (Cencoroll, tsuritama) will provide the character designs, Yuuko Kakihara (Heaven's Lost Property) will act as series script supervisor, and Keitaro Motonaga (Rayearth) will direct.

A television anime sequel to the 1999 television series was announced by Toei in August. News on the official website is activated by letting users click on an "egg" once a day. Users can increase their clicks by participating in a typing game, as well as other various puzzles.

Digimon Adventure tri. will premiere in April.

Update: Palmon's voice actress is returning, but is using a different stage name. Thanks, empress_donna and kawaiibunny3.
