Yo-Kai Watch 3, Yo-Kai Watch Busters Games Announced

posted on by Karen Ressler
Yo-kai Watch Busters will be 4-player co-op game

This year's April issue of Shogakukan's Coro Coro Comics magazine will announce on Saturday that two new Yo-kai Watch games are in the making. Yo-kai Watch 3 is the newest game in the main series, while Yo-kai Watch Busters is a spinoff game that will allow up to four players to cooperate in battling boss Yo-kai.

The magazine's next issue will unveil more information.

Game developer Level-5 announced the Yo-kai Watch franchise in 2011 with a game, manga, and anime already planned. The franchise's first game for the Nintendo 3DS debuted in Japan in 2013, and the television anime premiered in 2014. The game's sequel Yo-kai Watch 2 debuted last July with two different versions, Ganso and Honke, and the third version Shinuchi debuted in December.

The story of the games and anime begins when Keita discovers an old capsule toy vending machine in the forest. Keita receives a mysterious watch and meets a ghost named Whisper. Whisper tells Keita that the watch allows him to see supernatural creatures — both good and evil — that he could not see before in everyday life. With Whisper and the feline companion Jibanyan, Keita explores his town for other ghosts to battle or befriend.

Hasbro is planning to launch the Yo-kai Watch toy line internationally in 2016.
