Tokimeki Memorial and LovePlus producer Akari Uchida and LovePlus character designer Mino☆Tarō both announced in a series of messages of Twitter that they are leaving Konami Digital Entertainment as of Sunday. Uchida wrote that he will continue to make games. Mino☆Tarō will work as a freelancer under the new pen name Tarō Minoboshi. He tweeted an image of a character holding a sign with how to write his new pen name.
Uchida also messaged Mino☆Tarō suggesting they get together again some time.
The Loveplus franchise launched on the Nintendo DS in 2009, and sold at least 180,000 copies in half a year. The game has since spawned an enhanced LovePlus+ edition, New LovePlus for the Nintendo 3DS, a few mobile and arcade spinoffs, and at least five manga series.
