Retailers are listing Kentarō Okamoto's sixth Sanzoku Diary manga volume in a special-edition bundle with an anime DVD on June 23. The first anime adaptation of the manga will be a short, 10 to 15 minutes long, by the studio DLE (Eagle Talon, Thermae Romae, Haiyoru! Nyaru-Ani), and it will mainly cover the story from the manga's first volume. The voice cast will feature Taishi Murata, Yūma Uchida, Yuuto Suzuki, and Frogman. The bundle will also include two coasters.

The manga follows the real-life story of how Okamoto became a hunter with his air gun and ate what he hunted, including deep-frying (karaage) a rabbit, roasting a duck, and grilling (yakitori) a crow. The manga also includes survival techniques as Okamoto relates when he himself became lost in the mountains.

Okamoto launched the manga in Kodansha's Evening magazine in 2011. The manga was nominated for the 6th Manga Taisho Award and the 38th Annual Kodansha Manga Awards in 2014.
