Fairy Tail Manga, Anime Run Same Story Within Same Week

This year's 17th issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine shipped on Wednesday with an extra Fairy Tail chapter, titled Fairy Tail of the Dead Meeeeeeeeen, along with the main manga chapter. This extra story will also be the March 28 episode of the Fairy Tail anime, resulting in the manga and anime running the same story within the same week.
Hiro Mashima launched Fairy Tail in Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2006, and Kodansha shipped the 48th compiled volume earlier this month. Kodansha Comics is releasing the series in North America, and will ship the 47th volume on March 31.
The series inspired a television anime in 2009 that concluded with a "To Be Continued" title card in 2013. The second series began airing in Japan last April, and Crunchyroll and Funimation stream the series as it airs. Funimation is releasing the first series on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in North America.
The anime's Tartarus arc will begin on April 4.
