Knights of Sidonia Gets 2 One-Shot Spinoff Manga

Yayoi Ogawa (Tramps Like Us, Kimi wa Pet, Ginban Kishi) and will draw a one-shot spinoff manga for Tsutomu Nihei's Knights of Sidonia in Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Sirius. In addition, newcomer Myako Iwako will draw a one-shot spinoff in the June issue of Kodansha's Aria shojo magazine on April 28.
Ogawa recommended the series to women, saying "I'm a woman, but I want to see cool robot battles!"
TOHO Cinema in Tokyo will hold a women-only screening of the Knights of Sidonia compilation film on April 8. CustomiZ, the group performing the second anime season's ending theme song, and scriptwriter Tow Ubukata will be at the event.
The first TV anime season premiered in Japan last April and Netflix premiered the English version streaming in July. The theatrical film compiling all 12 episodes with new sequences and redone sound effects opened March 6.
The second season, titled Sidonia no Kishi: Dai-kyū Wakusei Seneki (Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine), will premiere in April in the Animeism programming block. Hiroyuki Seshita, the assistant director of the first season, is replacing Kobun Shizuno as the director of the second season at POLYGON PICTURES, and Sadayuki Murai is returning to be in charge of the series scripts.
