MAGES. head Chiyomaru Shikura announced during his live-streamed "New Works Unveiling in TwitCast" on Saturday that an anime adaptation of his Chaos;Child game has been green-lit. He also announced that the adventure game will come to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita platforms with a Z (18+) age rating on June 25. The game is Shikura's fourth science-adventure game, after Chaos;Head, Steins;Gate, and Robotics;Notes; all three previous entries also inspired anime.
Demo versions of Chaos;Child will debut on all three new platforms on March 30. The limited editions of the game's new releases will include a papercraft version of the "Present Box" and a drama CD starring Mio Kunosato.
Chaos;Child first debuted on the Xbox One in 2014. That first version allowed players to hear in-game phone calls via the controller, but the versions on other platforms will change this and other features.
In the psycho-suspense story, after a magnitude-7.8 earthquake hits Tokyo's Shibuya ward on November 6, 2009, a black fire spreads and causes mass panic on the day of the earthquake. The sudden disaster that becomes known as the "Shibuya Earthquake" kills 3,851 people and injures 30,927 more.
The game is set in a reconstructed Shibuya district in October 2015. A string of mysterious deaths occurs in Shibuya amidst the reconstruction. People begin to take notice as the strange events start on the same day that chaos broke out in Shibuya with a certain incident five years earlier. The events are called the "Return of the New Generation Madness."
