Kadokawa Launches 'ComicWalker GLOBAL' Platform for Non-Japanese Works

Japanese publisher Kadokawa launched the beta version of its new, free ComicWalker GLOBAL website for international works on April 27. The platform focuses on non-Japanese works. Although the site is still in beta, Kadokawa will formally launch the platform sometime in summer.
The beta version of the site launched with nine titles from Taiwan, Singapore, and China, including Foo Swee Chin's Nippon Lah, and Chiya's Hoshi ga Mieru Mise, on April 27. Most of the launch titles are available in Japanese, though some are only available in Traditional or Simplified Chinese. Kadokawa is aiming to make most of the offerings on the site available in English in the near future.
The site features a new vertical scrolling option in order to make the titles easier to read on smartphones and tablets. The platform is only viewable as a website during the beta, but Kadokawa plans to launch an app for both iOS and Android in the near future.
Kadokawa previously launched the ComicWalker app on March 22 last year. That service focuses on Japanese manga, and will co-exist alongside ComicWalker GLOBAL.
