Trailer shows iconic video game characters in action

Sony Pictures began streaming the second trailer to Chris Columbus' live-action Pixels film on Tuesday. The film will feature the video game franchises Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Centipede, Galaga, Frogger, Q*bert, and Space Invaders. Several video game companies and license-holders — including Atari, Konami, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Nintendo, Columbia Pictures Industries, Taito, and Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment — are collaborating with Sony Pictures on the film.

The trailer previews the movie's story, and shows some of the iconic video game characters included in the movie in action.

Sony Pictures previously streamed the film's first trailer in March.

Columbus (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire) is directing the feature about a former retro game champion who is summoned by the President of the United States to fend off an alien attack on Earth. Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad, and Brian Cox will star in the film, which is slated for July 24. The film is based on a short film by Patrick Jean.
