Studio Colorido's anime film opens for 3-week engagement on Friday

Studio Colorido began streaming a new trailer on Friday to accompany the theatrical premiere of its feature-length anime film Taifū no Noruda (Typhoon Noruda). The trailer features the film's theme song "Arashi no Ato de" (After the Storm) by Galileo Galilei.

The film is opening in theaters in Japan for a three-week limited engagement beginning this Friday, June 5.

The film takes place on a certain isolated island, at a certain middle school, on the eve of the culture festival. A boy quits baseball after playing his whole life, and has a fight with his best friend. Then they suddenly meet a mysterious, red-eyed girl named Noruda, and a huge typhoon hits the middle school.

The main cast includes:

Shūhei Nomura as Shūichi Azuma, a naive young boy. A long-time baseball player and a close friend to Saijō. Unable to be frank with himself.

Daichi Kaneko as Kenta Saijō, an honest boy with a strong sense of justice. His personality clashes strongly with Azuma's, but he sympathizes with him.

Kaya Kiyohara as Noruda, a girl from space harried by a cruel fate. Azuma helped her, and her heart begins to open.

Former Ghibli animator Yōjirō Arai is making his directorial debut on the film, though he previously served as animation director on short anime for Studio Colorido. Hiroyasu Ishida, who previously directed award-winning shorts such as "Fumiko's Confession" and "rain town," is designing the characters and serving as animation director. Masashi Hamauzu (Good Luck Girl!) is composing the music.

The rest of the staff includes:

  • CG Director: Norihiko Miyoshi
  • Art Director: Mika Nishimura
  • Color design: Haruko Nobori
  • Director of photography: Mitsuhiro Sato
  • Editing: Hiroshi Okuda
  • Sound director: Satoshi Motoyama

The film will screen alongside the short "Hinata no Aoshigure" by the same studio and Hiroyasu Ishida ("Fumiko's Confession").
