The official website for the two live-action film adaptations of Venio Tachibana and Rihito Takarai's boy's love manga Seven Days began streaming a trailer for the second film on Thursday. The website previously streamed a trailer for the first film last month.
Tomoki Hirose (Yowamushi Pedal stage plays) and Takeshi James Yamada (Jigoku Sensei Nube TV drama) will star as Tōji and Yuzuru, respectively. Other cast members include Hinako Tanaka, Yūki Hiyori, Rin Ishikawa, Itsuki Sagara, and Yukihiro Takiguchi.
Takeshi Yokoi (Higanjima TV series, Kyokara Hitman film) is directing the films and Natsuko Takahashi (live-action Boys Over Flowers, No Touching At All, Ōoku: The Inner Chambers) is writing the screenplays.
The original story follows Yuzuru, a disillusioned senior who asks the school's most infamous student, Tōji, out as a half-hearted joke. The rumor goes that Tōji will earnestly date the first person to ask him out at the beginning of the week. But Tōji takes him seriously, and Yuzuru goes along with it, expecting it to be like the rest – a relationship begun on a Monday, and abruptly ended by the following Sunday. What he doesn't expect is the romantic feelings that start to emerge.
The first film, titled Seven Days: MONDAY→THURSDAY, will premiere on June 6. The second film, titled Seven Days: FRIDAY→SUNDAY, will premiere on July 4. Both films will open in Humax Cinemas in Tokyo, followed by other theaters in Japan.
The Seven Days manga placed 5th in 2010's Kono BL ga Yabai (This BL is Dangerous) rankings and also has a drama CD adaptation. Digital Manga Inc. (Digital Manga Publishing) licensed both volumes of the manga in 2009 and 2011.
