6th Hakuoki Stage Musical Previewed in Theatrical Ad

Musical running in Kyoto from Wednesday to Sunday & streaming in 10 theaters

Marvelous AQL began streaming a video announcing that the filmed Tokyo stage performance of the Hakuōki: Reimei Roku (Hakuoki: Daybreak Story) musical, the sixth musical in the Hakuoki series, will screen in 10 theaters in Japan on Sunday.

The official website of the live film viewing lists the theaters in Japan showing the film:

  • Cinema Sunshine Ikebukuro, Toshima Ward, Tokyo

  • TOHO Cinemas Nagoya BayCity, Nagoya City, Aichi
  • TOHO Cinemas Nijo, Kyoto City, Kyoto
  • Osaka Station City Cinema, Osaka City, Osaka
  • 109 Cinemas HAT Kobe, Kobe City, Hyogo
  • United Cinemas Canal City 13, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka

The filmed stage performance of the musical will screen in the above theaters on Sunday. Tickets will cost 3,600 yen (around US$29).

Marvelous AQL previously streamed a commercial for the musical last month.

The musical's official website unveiled the cast in costume in April. The cast members, some returning from the fifth musical, include:

  • Atsushi Shiramata as Ryūnosuke Ibuki
  • Yoshihide Sasaki as Toshizō Hijikata
  • Yoshihiko Aramaki as Sōji Okita
  • Shōhei Hashimoto as Hajime Saitō
  • Ren Ozawa as Heisuke Tōdō
  • Keisuke Higashi as Sanosuke Harada
  • Hiroki Ino as Shinpachi Nagakura
  • Teruma as Keisuke Yamanami
  • Shōta Takasaki as Susumu Yamazaki
  • Taira Imata as Isami Kondō
  • Akira Kubodera as Kamo Serizawa
  • Manji Edogawa as Kōdō Yukimura
  • Kōki Shinozaki as Nishiki Niimi

Nobihiro Mōri returned to write and direct the musical. The musical opened at the AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo on May 23 until May 31 and then opened in Kyoto on Wednesday until June 14.

Idea Factory's Hakuōki Shinsengumi Kitan romance adventure game from Otomate, Idea Factory's brand aimed at female players, shipped in Japan for the PS3 in 2010, and was released in North America in May.

The story of the game and its anime adaptation center around the historical Shinsengumi samurai group in Kyoto during the 19th century.

The Hakuōki anime franchise includes the 12-episode Hakuōki series, the 10-episode sequel series Hakuōki Hekketsu-roku, and the 6-episode Hakuōki Sekkaroku OVA series. The franchise also includes a prequel television anime series and two films that premiered in 2013. Sentai Filmworks licensed the franchise in 2013.
