The official website for Jun Maeda's Charlotte anime revealed on Thursday that the show will get a television special on June 20 before the series officially premieres in July.

The "Charlotte ~Arata na 'Unmei' no Hajimari~" (Charlotte ~The Beginning of a New Fate~) special will air on MBS on June 20 at 27:58 (effectively June 21 at 3:58 a.m.). The special will then air on TOKYO MX on June 26 at 24:30 (effectively June 27 at 12:30 a.m.) and on BS11 on June 28 at 24:30 (effectively June 29 at 12:30 a.m.).

The special will introduce the show's story and characters, visit P.A. Works' studio, and feature messages from the staff and cast.

The staff is also hosting a "Charlotte & Angel Beats! presents Staff Talk Event in Osaka" event on June 20. The event will feature Aniplex producer Yosuke Toba and publicity producer Yuma Takahashi, P.A. Works producer Mitsuhito Tsuji, Kadokawa ASCII Media Works' Takanori Koarai, and a secret guest.

The show's main cast is as follows:

Kouki Uchiyama (Nisekoi's Raku, Infinite Stratos' Ichika) as Yū Otosaka

Ayane Sakura (Love Live!'s Arisa, Selector Infected Wixoss's Yuzuki) as Nao Tomori

Takahiro Mizushima (Angel Beats! Takamatsu, Code Geass' Rollo) as Jōjirō Takajō

Maaya Uchida (Noragami's Hiyori, Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!'s Rikka) as Yusa Nishimori (pictured left) and Misa (pictured right)

Momo Asakura (Witch Craft Works' Rin, Sakura Trick's Sumi) as Ayumi Otosaka

The official website has also posted voice samples for the main six characters.

Yoshiyuki Asai will direct the anime at P.A. Works from an original concept and scripts by Maeda. Kanami Sekiguchi is adapting Na-Ga's original character designs. Lia will perform the opening theme song "Bravely You," and Aoi Tada will perform the ending theme song "Yake Ochinai Tsubasa." Maeda is composing and writing the lyrics for both songs. The band ZHIEND and the vocalist Marina will perform the background music. Maeda will also produce the background music compositions. Hikarisyuyo will compose the songs.

The anime will premiere on Tokyo MX Tv, tvk, MBS, BS11, and other channels in July.

The story centers around the special abilities that occur among a small percentage of boys and girls in puberty. Yū Otosaka uses his power without others knowing, and lives a fairly normal, average school life. Before him suddenly appears a girl, Nao Tomori. Due to his meeting with her, the fate of special power-users will be exposed.

Key is releasing the anime in celebration of its 15th anniversary, and the series will be Maeda's 2nd original anime work, with the first being Angel Beats! in 2010.
