Series of 3-minute shorts about woman who drinks sake at bars alone premieres on July 5

North Stars Pictures' Comic Zenon magazine began streaming the first ad on Monday for the television anime adaptation of Chie Shinkyū's Wakako-zake manga. Miyuki Sawashiro narrates the video as the titular character Wakako.

The cuisine manga follows 26-year old Wakako, who drinks different kinds of sake at bars alone every night, searching for her place to belong.

Minoru Yamaoka (episode director for Terror in Resonance, Kids on the Slope, Mysterious Joker) is directing the series at studio Office DCI. Yoshishige Kosako (animation director for The Knight in the Area, Master Keaton) is designing the characters, Yuki Yukie (Boys Over Flowers, Dream Eater Merry) is serving as art director, Haruko Nobori (Tiger & Bunny, Medaka Box) is the color designer, and Ayumi Itakura (Love Lab, Angel Heart) is the director of photography. Yuuka Ueno will perform the theme song "Shiawase no Kaerimichi" (The Happy Way Home).

The series of three-minute shorts will air on Tokyo MX TV and Sun TV starting on July 5 at 10:27 p.m. The show will have 12 episodes.

Shinkyū started the manga in Monthly Comic Zenon in 2011, and Tokuma Shoten published the fourth volume in December. The series ranked 10th on the Nationwide Bookstore Employees' Recommended Comics of 2014 list.

A live-action television series adaptation starring Rina Takeda aired from January-March.

Update: Comic Zenon began streaming a new version of the promotional video on June 21. The video features the same animation and the same narration, but Miyuki Sawashiro narrates the video in a different style.
