posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The official website of the company Animation Innovation Content (AIC) Project revealed on Tuesday that the company has licensed the rights to the Saber Marionette work by Hiroshi Negishi and Satoru Akahori, and that a Saber "re:anime project" is launching. Negishi is listed as the company's representative director. Negishi also announced the project in his Twitter account on the same day.
The format of the project has not yet been announced.
The last project in the Saber Marionette action comedy franchise, Saber Marionette J to X, was a 26-episode television anime series released in 1998. The franchise encompasses two original video anime series, two television anime series, two manga series released between 1995 and 1999, and spinoffs in other media. The main Saber Marionette J series is set in a world with no women, only female androids that can perform limited human interaction, called Marionettes. One day, a boy named Otaru Mamiya discovers a "Saber" model Marionette called Lime, equipped with a special chip that grants her emotions.
