The school presents opportunities for friendship, love, and conflict. The tagline of the game is, "Whenever you exited the school gates, you were handsome."

The game debuted on PC in 2010, and then Tohoku Penet ported it to iOS and Android devices in December 2013.

The Animate group and Liverpool's "Ani Pū" label will release Gakuen Handsome the Animation on DVD on August 28 for 2,980 yen (about US$25). Team YokkyuFuman is animating the project under the direction of Tohoku Penet. Those who pre-order the DVD will receive a "All CV Takuya version" of a prototype DVD.
