Fire Emblem Fates character designer, story writer to collaborate on manga

Nintendo announced at the "Fire Emblem Festival" event on July 24-25 that a new Fire Emblem manga is slated to begin in September.

The manga by Yuusuke Kozaki (Donyatsu) and Shin Kibayashi (GetBackers, The Knight in the Area) will launch in the October issue of Kodansha's Monthy Young Magazine on September 19. Kozaki previously designed the characters for the Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates (Fire Emblem if) games. Kibayashi served as storywriter for Fire Emblem Fates.

The content of the manga's story has not yet been revealed, but the announcement was accompanied by an image of a swordsman walking into the sunset.

A comic anthology of the most recent installment in the RPG series, Fire Emblem Fates, is set to ship later this month in Japan. A four-panel manga for the game is slated for release in September.

Previous Fire Emblem manga series include Maki Hakoda's adaptation of the first game, Fire Emblem: Dark Dragon and the Sword of Light and Kōtarō Yamada's Fire Emblem: Hasha no Tsurugi (Fire Emblem: Sword of Champions), which adapts the sixth game in the series. Nea Fuyuki's Fire Emblem: Hikari o Tsugumono and Mitsuki O-sawa's Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War both adapt the series' fourth game.

Fire Emblem Fates shipped in Japan in June and is slated for a 2016 release in the west.
