King Records began streaming a 15-second commercial for the second season of Fafner Exodus on Friday. The video feature's Angela's opening theme song "Exist" from the first season.
The official website also announced that Angela will again perform the opening and ending themes for the anime. Her new songs will premiere with the fifth episode of the second season (the 18th episode over all). The main staff and cast are also returning.
The second season will premiere in October on MBS' "Animeism" programming block.
XEBEC zwei had said in 2013 that the sequel will be a 26-episode television series. However, in November 2014 the official website for the series had listed six Blu-ray Disc/DVD volumes with 13 episodes on them. The show's staff confirmed in April that the show would continue beyond its first 13 episodes.
The sequel television anime is set in the year 2151, two and a half years after the film Sōkyū no Fafner: Dead Aggressor: Heaven and Earth. The 10th-anniversary project reunites the main staff from the first Fafner television series, including director Nobuyoshi Habara at XEBEC zwei and Xebec. Tow Ubukata is writing the project, and King Records' Gou Nakanishi is a producer.
Crunchyroll streamed the first half of the sequel series in various countries as it aired from January to April. Funimation licensed and released the original 2004 anime Fafner and the 2010 film Sōkyū no Fafner: Dead Aggressor: Heaven and Earth.
